HOW TO PREPARE FOR IBPS PO Exam?

What is IBPS?

IBPS means Institute of banking personnel selection. This is an autonomous body conducting competitive exams to select personnel for various nationalized banks. The written test is conducted in MCQ type questions followed by an interview by the host institution. The final decision is taken by the host institution regarding the appointment of the personnel.

Exam pattern of IBPS Exam:

IBPS mainly carry out three types of examination
  1. Clerical
  2. Probationary Officers
  3. Specialist Officers
These are held to appoint personnel for 19 nationalized banks of India.

IBPS CWE Clerk Examination: 

This exam is conducted online since December 2012. This exam is conducted every year by IBPS for clerical level and probationary officer level exam. The pattern is same but the level of difficulty is different in both the cases.

There are 200 questions divided into five sections:
  1. Logical reasoning
  2. quantitative aptitude
  3. computer awareness
  4. banking awareness
  5. English comprehension
    Each section has forty questions carrying forty marks.

Marking Scheme:

Every correct answer is awarded one mark and each wrong answer is penalized by one third mark , it means that every three wrong questions will deduct one mark from your total score.
SECTIONWISE EXPLANATION:
Logical Reasoning: 
This section involves the test for logical ability and problem-solving ability of the candidates. Practice as much as you can as it needs only speed building and presence of mind. There are no formulae or concepts to be used.

Quantitative Aptitude

This section involves a lot of calculations, speed, and accuracy. One needs to understand the concepts and practice as much as you can. The complex calculations are given which needs speed and accuracy.

Computer awareness:

Basic fundamental questions are asked in this section. Therefore read the books on fundamentals of computer awareness and prepare MCQS based questions

Banking Awareness:

This section involves questions based on banking and financial concepts. Current affairs questions are also asked involving last six months duration. This section can be prepared by reading financial newspapers like financial express, business line etc. Also learn basic banking terms such as repo rate, CRR, SLR etc.

English:

This section is to test the comprehensive ability and understanding of English language. Reading comprehension is given with factual questions followed by some vocabulary based questions also. There are other questions which are like sentence arrangement, fill in the blanks (paragraphs given with one blank in each sentence around ten blanks in one paragraph), find the error etc. This is the strategy one must follow to prepare for IBPS Exams.
